We are in Mexico City for the weekend and in about 15 minutes we are leaving our hotel to participate in the "Parade of the Monumental Alebrijes." If you've ever visited our house in Atlanta, you know that we cherish 4 big papier mache sculptures made at the Linares family workshop here in Ciudad de Mexico. Today is the 3rd annual parade in which groups are invited to create "monumental"-size floats in various shapes, probably similar to the dragon-like fantastical creatures we have in our house.
Yesterday Art had to work from our hotel, but I took the kids to see the amazing floating gardens called "chinampas" which are the only remaining Aztec fields still in active use. We bought Harper a venus flytrap for a school project from one of the ubiquitous greenhouses and ate grilled chicken with handmade tortillas and guacamole from the comfort of our own boat. Note her name!
